Flying with Kids

When flying with kids …

Check the baggage allowance and boarding policy with the airline before you travel. How stressful can it be when travelling with children, to be told that your 15 kilo allowance covers both you and your child. You will then be told by the check in staff that you have to make your way to another desk to pay the access before returning to check in again!
If you are travelling with a toddler, consider using a harness around the airport, as you will be distracted when you are checking in, going through customs and baggage reclaim.

If you are travelling with an infant under two, they will travel on your lap free of charge, or for an administration fee, but with some airlines, it is possible to take your car seat on the flight. This is particularly handy when taking long haul flights and/or if you need your car seat at your destination. You would need to pay a child fare for your baby occupying the seat.
I always travelled with a sling / baby carrier through the airports when my children were babies, as often had to walk a long way from the plane to the baggage reclaim before I had access to my buggy again.
Try and get your children to use the toilet before the hostess trolleys come down the aisle as once they come, they are around for a long while!
Remind your children to not make jokes about bombs.. it is illegal and can cost you time and money!
