Marrakech is full of exciting and adventurous activities that all the family will enjoy.
From an old fashioned camel ride across the desert, to fun-filled waterparks and adventure parks set amongst the beautiful natural scenery, there is something for all ages in Marrakech! Plus with the warm and friendly atmosphere of the city, you and your family will always feel welcomed and at home, wherever you go. Read on to find out more about just some of the exciting things you could be doing with your family while on holiday here:
Riding across a lush oasis in the middle of the desert on the back of a camel might sound like the stuff of movies, but kids of all ages will be thrilled to get up close and personal with these friendly creatures, as you gently move along. You might experience a few little bumps along the way, but once you get into the rhythm, it is definitely an enjoyable experience! Perfect for children of all ages – big kids over 12 will be proud to ride a camel by themselves, while younger children can be safely accompanied by an adult.
A cool, refreshing swim in a water park is perfect on a hot day in Marrakech, and with three big water parks across the city, you can take your pick. All of them are family-friendly, and set in clean, well-maintained environments. With a variety of different pools, as well as slides, chutes, rapid rivers and more, your kids won’t ever have a second to feel bored! Ideal for younger children who don’t enjoy the busy crowds of the city, where parents can supervise safely while little ones have a splash.
For older children who’d like to face more of a challenge, Morocco’s famous Terresd’Amanar offers adventure and excitement by the bucket load. Set amongst the countryside outside the city, children can try out a variety of new skills – from horseback riding and archery, to more unusual ones like riding a zip wire or crossing the obstacle-filled Accro Park. If you’d like to try something a little gentler, why not take part in a crafts workshop to learn about beautiful Moroccan crafts, or have a dip in the outdoor pool?
For a holiday activity with a difference, take part in the wonderful Fantasia show, which adults and children alike will enjoy. Presenting a view of traditional Moroccan culture through food, dance, music and displays, you’ll get to enjoy authentic Moroccan treats like mint tea, couscous, sweet pastries and fruits, from the comfort of soft cushions, while all about you, belly dancers, swordsmen and musicians give you an experience to remember for a lifetime.
By day, it's a bustling, hectic city square but by night, the Jamaa el Fnasquare transforms into something incredible. The cool dusk air is filled with the sights and sounds of street entertainers as they vie for your attention – including stunning acrobats, snake charmers, dancers, and musicians. You can even try out the wares from one of the many street food stalls – but this is probably best avoided by those with younger children!
