Sydney is one of Australia’s best loved destinations, and it attracts an immeasurable number of tourists every year. Some of its famous landmarks have been replicated around the world, and its weather and lifestyle are the main draw for holiday makers.
Sydney is a vibrant location with endless attractions and activities. Although it is one of the oldest cities in Australia, it has continually modernised and kept up to date with modern trends and styles. Its architecture is quite simply stunning, and it hardly has the feel of a built up metropolis, so this is a city destination that’s perfect for any family who wants to combine a beach holiday with the attractions of a bustling city.
Sydney is as multicultural as a city comes, and this attitude is reflected in the many festivals and celebrations that are held throughout the year. The Greek Festival held every March is a celebration of Greece, and the city enjoys dancing displays, Greek cuisine and a taste or two of Ouzo. The alcohol aside, it’s a fun festival for kids who have plenty of activities to engage in themselves.
Just as much fun is the annual Surry Hills Festival in April, which is a country fair on a very grand scale. Over 90 thousand locals attend this festival, enjoying dog displays, food stalls, local markets and musical entertainment. Not only is this event fun for the whole family, but its a great place to pick up those all important souvenirs.
Sydney enjoys great weather throughout the year, but as with the rest of Australia, the warmest months are over Christmas time. Spring is a great time to visit here, as the weather will be cooler and the prices for travel and accommodation will have dramatically decreased.
