The best time of year to visit Seville with children is in the Spring, it can get extremely hot in the Summer! Children will also enjoy the historic attractions such as the Santa Cruz Jewish quarter, with its the Gothic Cathedral - also the final resting place of Columbus, and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The children will thoroughly enjoy the climb up the magnificent Giralda Tower, which offers spectacular views of the entire city, or the Torre del Oro and imagine that the treasures are being brought in from the Indies. They will also have fun taking a horse drawn carriage around the sites of Seville, or a cruise down the Guadalquivir River. Seville is known for its 'Tapas' and flamenco dance, and there is no better place in Spain to experience this.
Things to do with children in Sevilla
Take a stroll around the Maria Luisa Park, designed for a grand exposition in 1929 and consists of exotic plants, palm and citrus trees, and several buildings, ponds and fountains. You can hire a “Surrey bike” and take your family for a ride around the fabulous gardens. There is also a playground for the younger ones.
Get catapulted back in time to the 16th century at Isla Magica, where Columbus set sail for the New World. Located on the 1992 World Expo grounds, this large amusement Park has been designed around the 16th-century Spanish colonial times. It is divided into a series of seven attractions, providing a great family day out for kids and lovers of white knuckle rides! The older kids will love the El Jaguar, a roller coaster with high-speed 360° turns, and the Anaconda water roller coaster, which features vertiginous drops, whilst the pirates of the Caribbean will be a hit with the younger ones! Opening hours vary, so confirm times before going.
You cannot go all the way to Seville and not visit the Moorish Alcazar Palace, built in the 11th century by the Moors and expanded upon throughout later periods. There are lots of exquisite rooms to explore, plus the gardens, children will want to explore the maze in the grounds and the younger ones will just be fascinated by water features, and ponds, and the peacocks roaming in the courtyards.
You can throw yourself down a fast decent at Sevilles Water park, Aquapolis. The older kids will enjoy the Black Hole, the Rapid River, the Mammoth, and the Superslides, whereas the little kids will have fun at the Crazy Plumber, the Mini Soft Slides, or the Mini water slides. There are plenty of relaxing areas for us adults, where you can base yourself to dip in and out of the hydromassage jets, the lake, and the big wave pool. If you like racing, you can also show off your skills on the Go-Kart track!
