Destination: Puglia
Puglia, or Apulia as it is also known, forms the southern region of Italy. When looking at a map, Puglia shapes the ‘heel’ to Italy’s ‘boot’, a nice image to show the children in an atlas when planning your trip.

Throughout the region you will discover amazing examples of Baroque architecture, mysterious caves and monuments to explore, not to mention the Greek and Neolithic archaeological sites that are spread around the land. The children will love to take in all the history that Puglia has to offer. After all of that site seeing you may need a few days off to recover, Puglia has plenty of stunning sandy beaches to relax on too, making this destination a perfectly versatile family holiday hotspot.
Things to do in Puglia with the Kids
One way to the children’s hearts on a trip to Puglia is through their tummies. What child doesn’t love pizza and ice cream? Of which Italy is famed for! Take the kids to one of the many quiet bistros or family run restaurants that are dotted around the region and discover the excellent Italian cuisine, maybe mum and dad could also sample a small glass of Pinot whilst they are there. To explore this fine food hands on, there are a few culinary schools dotted around the region too, so why not get stuck in and have the kids tossing some pizza dough and mixing some sauces, all whilst learning about the countries famous food.
