The United States is an ideal location for not just one family holiday, but many. There are too many places to see and things to do, to only go once!
The United States of America has often been referred to as the ‘Land of Opportunity’, and with 50 States with very different landscapes, weather and traditions to experience, it’s a country you could easily spend years visiting and never have to go to the same place twice.
Despite such choice, there are a number of locations in the States that have developed into some of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, and every year, hundreds upon hundreds of tourists descend upon cities and towns to have fun and enjoy the climate in the US.
One of the best-loved destinations is Florida, and for family entertainment this is the ultimate place to book a holiday. With theme parks like Disneyland on every block, inexpensive restaurants around every corner and warm, sunny weather throughout most of the year, there are too many reasons why you should visit this small southern State to mention. And whilst Orlando is the main location for family trips, Florida is also home to art deco and ultra chic Miami, Tampa Bay and the world famous Busch Gardens, and the beautiful island chain known as the Keys.

Here, families can experience the allure of Los Angeles, with the attraction of Hollywood, Sunset Boulevard and Universal Studios, or head to San Francisco with its iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
Emerging from the sands of the Nevada Desert is the famed city of Las Vegas, and although an unlikely candidate for a family holiday thanks largely to its reputation as ‘Sin City’, this glitzy oasis actually caters very well for family members who are just that little bit too young to gamble. There are nightly shows like Cirque de Soleil to keep youngsters entertained, and adults will enjoy the experience as well. Other exciting attractions, like Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, an enormous marine centre designed like a sunken temple that is home to over 1200 different species of marine life, will entertain the entire family. Venture into the desert itself and kids of all ages will enjoy a tour of the Hoover Dam, and a little further away are the unique natural formations of the Grand Canyon and Death Valley.
The New York skyline is a view not to be missed, and this is one city where activities for families are in abundant supply. Central Park is an iconic location where activities range from a visit to the Children’s Zoo, where petting and feeding visits can be enjoyed by kids young or old, to castles, skating rinks, an outdoor swimming pool and a wide variety of sports. The Madame Tussaud’s waxwork museum can be found here, and on a visit to the Empire State Building tourists can jump aboard the realistic simulator and enjoy a fast-paced, visual ride through the city without taking a step. (There is no age limit but riders must be at least 3 feet tall.)
North of New York lies Lake George, a fantastic destination where the whole family can experience whitewater rafting and wild camping in the summer, and skiing or ice skating in the winter time. This is also a great place to experience some culture, and open air operatic performances and string quartet recitals are mixed with art gallery exhibitions and sculptures. There really is something for everyone here.
Chicago plays host to family fun with a wide variety of attractions that will have every kid smiling. The Windy City is situated in Illinois on the shores of Lake Michigan, and is an easy flight from the UK. Kids who need to burn off energy can head to the what has got to be the largest trampoline centre in the world – over 100 trampolines line the warehouse of the Xtreme Trampoline centre, and kids can bounce away for hours under the watchful eye of their parents. Older children will be fascinated by Sears Tower and the John Hancock Observatory, while parents who need some quiet time will be able to leave their children at any one of the dedicated indoor play centres with expert supervisors on hand to watch over them.
