The Cuban National Zoo differs to others worldwide as the animals are allowed to roam freely, outside of fencing. Visit the forever popular lions' pit in the Little Africa area, with large trees, huge rocks and caves where the jungle kings live in their original habit. Other animals include hippos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, elephants and many more. The National Zoo is a must for all visitors to Cuba.
Dont miss the Callejon de Hamel (Hamel alley) Initiated by the sculptor and painter Salvador Gonzales who, together with a group of friends, decided to paint a mural celebrating Afro-Cuban culture.
