Walt Disney World Top Tips
General
► Make sure you pick up a guide map from the Guest Relations centre in each Park. They’ll keep you in the know with show times, dining options, and of course how to get around!
► Check out the Tip Boards in each Park for really up-to-the-minute news and special events
► In the Parks, take advantage of Disney’s complimentary FASTPASS service – it saves your space in the queue on many of the most popular attractions, so you can go off and explore the Park
► Remember that Walt Disney World has its own complimentary transportation system to take you door to door from your Disney Resort Hotel to the Disney Parks and more
► Bear in mind that you need to be 21 years of age or older to buy or consume alcohol in Florida – it’s quite normal for young people to be asked for ID, so make sure you carry it with you
► Disney Resort Hotel guests can charge purchases to their room and have shopping delivered there direct
Disney Parks
► Plan your day around the attractions you most want to see – use the Park’s guide map to plan a route, and check the daily schedule for shows which are on at specific times of the day
► The Disney Parks tend to fill up faster in the front, so for zipper progress, start at the back and make your way forwards
► If your child is too young to ride an attraction, you might still be happy to experience it for yourself. Parent/Guardian Switch will let you do just that – one parent waits with the child while the other rides, then you switch afterwards with no further wait
► You’ll find favourite Characters all over Walt Disney World, but particular hot spots are Mickey’s Toontown Fair at Magic Kingdom Park and Camp Minnie-Mickey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park – don’t forget your autograph book!
► After parking at Magic Kingdom Park, if there’s a long line for the monorail into the Park, jump on the ferry – it’s quicker!
► Not sure if you’re up to the excitement of Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park? Try the Tomorrowland Transit Authority near Astro Orbiter – it runs at no more than a brisk jog, and will take you inside Space Mountain for a preview
► For a superb view of Wishes at Magic Kingdom Park, the night time musical fireworks spectacular, stand on Main Street, U.S.A. facing Cinderella Castle. Alternatively, watch the whole show from the California Grille at the very top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort
► Want to ride the high speed Test Track at Epcot, but don’t want to wait? Make for the ‘Single Riders’ queue and join up with your party afterwards
► The nightly spectacular IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot can be seen from anywhere around the central World Showcase Lagoon
► When visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, don’t miss Kilimanjaro Safaris – it’s your chance to see real free-roaming animals as they explore the savannah. Catch it early in the morning or late in the day though, so you can spot animals who don’t like the midday sun
► You’d better prepare to get wet on Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park – just ask at the attraction entrance about secure compartments to keep your personal belongings safe from the water
► The night time spectacular show Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is stunning to watch – make sure everyone in the party gets great seats together by arriving at least an hour before it starts
► At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Block Party Bash is filled with Disney•Pixar Characters, fantastic floats, trampoline acts and aerial acrobatics – for the best view, turn up early and find a spot along the parade route
Disney Water Parks
► When you’re ready for a break, pull up a lounge chair at Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks and relax while the kids enjoy the exciting water slides, river rapids and twisting tides
► Disposable underwater cameras are great for taking pictures on all of the water-based attractions – at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, you can buy them at Singapore Sal's near the main entrance
► There's no need for waterproof watches at the Disney Water Parks – you can always check the time on the Clock Tower
► On selected days at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, you can learn to surf before the Park opens
► Parking and inner tube usage are included with admission at the Disney Water Parks
► Don’t feel like zipping down water slides? Both Disney Water Parks have ‘lazy rivers’ that circle the entire Park – just hop in and relax!
► On the more thrilling, faster paced attractions at the Disney Water Parks – like Humunga Kowabunga at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, or Summit Plummet at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park – we recommend wearing one-piece bathing costumes. Also bear in mind that you won’t be allowed to wear swimsuits with rivets, buckles or exposed metal
► You can rent lockers, towels and life jackets at both Disney Water Parks, although life jacket hire is free if you leave an ID card
Downtown Disney Area
► Remember that the Downtown Disney Area is open later than the Parks, so you can enjoy a leisurely meal and stroll around the shops in the evening
Dining
► With the Disney Dining Plans, there’s no need to stick to your Disney Resort Hotel – you can choose from over 100 dining locations across the whole Resort
► Walt Disney World restaurants are very popular and get booked up quickly – to make sure you don’t miss out, call the dining reservation number up to 180 days
► Using your Disney Dining Plan points, grab a Mickey shaped icecream to enjoy while you watch the daily parade in one of the Theme Parks
